EDCI 6342 - Models and Methods in Science Education is a course designed to support the development of a a graduate science education student's understanding of pedagogical models appropriate for K-12 education.
The course catalog description states the following description:
"EDCI 6342 Models and Methods in Science Education - The course may cover multiple topics in science education related to science content and pedagogy, inquiry and didactic models of science instruction, interdisciplinary and intradisciplinary approaches, thematic science teaching, authentic assessment, science process skills and critical-thinking skills and laboratory methods."
The course content and activities include instructional models that support effective science instruction at the K-12 level. Since mentoring is an important part of the graduate program in science education, it also gives the graduate student an opportunity to be able to communicate and mentor peers in a way that supports teacher professional development.
